WE ARE ENGAGED!!!!!!!!!!
Sun, 07/13/2008 - 12:28am — brettFINALLY, BRETT GAVE ME A RING!!!!!!!!
Today we spent the day at Wheeler Farm in Salt Lake CIty.
We went there at Brett's suggestion to feed the ducks (which i am always so thrilled to do!), and just lay out on a blanket, enjoying the weather and scenery.
There was a wedding reception going on this evening, and Brett started joking about marriage. He put his Brazilian seed ring on my ring finger and joked "Look. It's like we're engaged now!".
"VERY FUNNY..." I said, not completely amused. I shook of the Brazilian seed ring and let it fall on the blanket next to him. I turned around and went back to watching the animals and the reception. Brett grabbed my hand again, and i thought he was being silly, putting the brazilian ring back on my finger.
I turned around to tell him something like "Oh, Brett, you're silly..."
But at the moment i turned around, he said, "Aisling, will you marry me???"
I thought it was a joke! But i looked down at my finger and OMG I HAVE A SHINY DIAMOND RING ON IT!!!!!!!!
I was so shocked and surprised, i just start bawling. (I think i scared Brett a little bit. What a champ he is to not have run away!)
So...we both cried and after i finally calmed down, he got a "YES!" out of me. Ü
So that is the story!
What a wonderful surprise it was to me! It was the most perfect evening EVER! Ü
Love,
soon-to-be,
Aisling Silva

Emergency Room Visit
Sat, 06/28/2008 - 10:29am — brettSo at about 7:15 this morning, Brett woke up with severe abdominal pains. His first thought was that his appendix had burst. So everybody woke up, and Elizabeth rushed him over to the hospital.
Matt and John came over to give Brett a blessing, and Chiaki, Elizabeth, Kent and I were there for support.
The emergency room was just so absolutely efficient (NOT) that it only took us about an hour before a diagnosis was made. But upon arrival, blood was taken, and the usual paperwork was filled out. The doctor came in for about two minutes, poked around his stomach area and left without too much explanation. Still thinking it was a problem with his appendix, Brett was seriously worried when the pain started moving down south too. Not only did his stomach hurt, but now that same pain was in his groin area as well. They wouldn't give him any pain medications until they were sure what was wrong, so he was in a really bad state.
Eventually, he ended up getting a CAT scan, and we discovered that Brett wasn't having problems with his appendix at all. He was PASSING KIDNEY STONES.
The doctor told us that the pain he would feel is similar to a woman giving birth. SO, i'm sure this experience will help him to be very empathetic. :)
Anyways, now we're at home, outpatient. The doctor sent us home with some meds and we just have to hang tight until the stone passes. The doc said it could be a couple hours or a couple days. So, we'll just pray that it's quick.
Thanks for all the love and support. Even right now, 3 hours later, we've gotten tons of concerned phone calls for Brett. We'll keep you guys updated.

Brandon's 5th Birthday Party
Tue, 06/24/2008 - 10:09am — brettSo, as you all know, last week was Brandon's 5th birthday, and we all had a blast celebrating.
The best part had to be the amazing cake we made. It was a sea monster/dragon thing. We were there with Buff and her kids, John, Jen and their kids, Amy, her kids, Marilee and Holly, and Manoel, and my beautiful Aisling (who was the photographer) Ü.
Here are some picture of the fun:
